Select both the watermark clip and the footage below it. Right-click and select Nest. That combined the two clips into one nested clip, and the dissolve should work on both.

We’ve tried this before, and the results were pretty much identical. I would suggest that you test each with a few seconds of your timeline. Shouldn’t take more than a few minutes.

This is AE’s ‘Media Offline’ image. Try opening the AE project and re-save it. This usually works for me on Dynamic Link. If the same graphic shows up in the AE project, then the media has gone missing, or AE has lost connection to it.
