This is a excellent application. It allows viewing of the mxf data, repairing clips. If you want further functionality take a look at the HDLog product @ https://www.imagineproducts.com/hdlog.htm I have both applications, and have dusted the “Genie” in favor for P2 log and or HDLog which has much more functionality. If you shoot P2 this is the application for your workflow that you cannot do without. They have a demo of HDLog, try it out.

I have P2 Genie, but it does not tell you which folders are which on the P2 store, you have to ingest first, and you may ingest the same folder 2x.

Take a look at this product P2 log. Just purchased it, if he can only do the P2 Genie transfer thing multiple copies it is a winner! @ https://www.imagineproducts.com/P2log.htm

The ability to do the MXF viewing is great, without having to transfer to FCP is great. Other features as well.

February 8, 2007 at 11:02 am in reply to: 24P Anyone?

Welcome to the world of 24P, You must slow down the movement of any camera moves to a snail’s pace to avoid the jitters. Also if a automobile crosses the frame you will see this as a issue as well. If you take this 24p material and output to 60i then it looks horrible. But if it goes to DVD, progressive playback dvd all looks good.

The issues are mixing footage that were not shot in 24p, and shooting 24p materail with fast camera moves. Thou some will argue the 24P “look” vers the video look, the issue being a work flow and a shooting technigue that is seamless in 24p.

I am currently in the 24p world and discovering the challanges of it.

This is the issue with 24p, if you want to go to standard frame rate, then your going to get stuttering. Take the 60i footage down to 24p using Cinema Tools, edit. Output to DVD progressive playback and this is not an issue with 24p.

I have NOT been able to get a decent, seamless transfer of 24p to 60i with motion in the frame, anyone with any ideas?
