That is crazy! I think the idea of a retainer is a good one. It motivates them to use you instead of not using you. Also, do they really need you to come in? How far away are you from their office? If you are not getting paid to commute to their office and you might have to go there and back multiple times think of all the time you are spending not billing, miles and gas spent. What a bad deal. This is the type of job I would say no to or make it financially worth the hassle. If they say no to a better paid deal it would be no different to you saying no. If you take this deal and then have to turn down a much better client I think you will really get mad. That being said, I’ve worked the crazy 14 hour days for weeks to keep all of my clients happy. But they are great clients that know what they want up front. Best of luck. Remember, if there is a point where you get mad at this client for the hassle it is because you didn’t charge enough.

You have worked with the client before. Have they ever not paid you? Have they been a bad client? If you said No then I think you have a good relationship and don’t need to worry. If you answered Yes then why in the world are you still working with them?

That is a funny statement that everyone has Creative Cloud. You could edit in FCP and Motion and not need Creative Cloud. Are they saying the big Hollywood films where yes Grinner, someone only does “cuts” and then passes the film onto someone else to do the graphics, color and audio have a copy of Creative Cloud? I know people who only edit and nothing more. To me that is a silly statement. That being said, I live in the corporate / TV commercial world and like Grinner said, you have to do more than just edit. The biggest production companies in my neck of the woods typically employee 5 people or less. It feels like the number of solopreneurs grows every year. You must wear multiple hats. For me, Creative Cloud is the ticket and I love the software.

Wait, are you saying you keyed the video in Premiere Pro and you want to import it into After Effects?

Best of luck. The Glidecam is rather tricky to balance the first time.

You want your camera in the center if it is the same size on both ends. A lot of cameras that isn’t the case. For example, my camera has a handle on the end so I have to place it more like your image indicates. The design of the Glidecam wants the center weight of the camera in the center which might make it so the camera is not in the dead center of the rig.

Duik is cool if you to character animation. If you do a lot of live action videos I like Digital Anarchy Beauty Box. It smooths out peoples skin really well. Digital Anarchy also has a flicker plug-in that comes in handy every now and then.

I’m curious if anyone has used both Photo Animator and VoluMax? Otherwise, I wonder if you will just get the same results with both?

I’ve used Photo Animator on Video Hive and it works really cool. It won’t work for every photo.
