Drag the new clip onto the old one. You will get a hooked shaped arrow. Let go and it will swap out the clips. Hope this helps.

If you want a Solid to gradually disappear, I think the easiest way to do it it to use the shape tool. Change the Fill Mode to Gradient, click on the gradient discloser triangle and make both colors the same. Create an opacity tag and then drop it’s opacity. While reading this, I know it sounds like that it will take longer but once you’ve done it you will see that it is very easy and provides more control over what you want to do. In my opinion that is. I think this will work better round tripping for you. Hope this is of some help.

Create a new group and move the clips into the new group or select the current group and hit F4 to open up the Group tab. Check the Fixed Resolution check box. The current group is probably smaller then your canvas size. Hope this helps.

[Doug] how do I map a photo to a shape?
If I understand the question correctly I would say, “Use an Image Mask”. Here is a link to a tutorial that briefly talks about it, it is in the middle of the tutorial.

James, you are not dumb at all. This is a feature that comes with AE and not Motion. I would not be surprised if it’s in the new version of Motion. But what do I know. In order to stay in Motion it looks like Peters plug-in is the best bet.
