Zoom in on Vectors or High Res Images in 3d; Motion 3
Hey guys, any help on this would be great:
I’m using Illustrator and Motion together to animate a zooming in and out of of a map of the united states. I drew up a very basic shape of the U.S., a shape of states that I want to zoom into, some dots representing points of interest on the map, and some other objects. Excuse me as it’s a bit hard to explain exactly what I want to do. But I want to import these vectors into motion 3 and then be able to “zoom in” on to different areas of my vector drawing without the image becoming blurry and pixelated using the 3d camera. For example the dialogue states something along the lines of:
“We have 205 affiliates accross the nation (this is when the entire map would be shown) In Indiana we have 8 affiliates (Zoom into IN), We are located in Delaware county where we serve 9 other counties (Zoom into Delaware County to show their location).”
I hope this makes enough sense to understand what I’m trying to do. This is my first time doing 3-d motion graphics and it’s a whole new realm of things to learn. Any help is greatly appreciated.

So, are you asking, How do I import an illustrator file and how do I animate it to zoom in on various parts?

The illustrator file was created at 720×480. I’m asking how to zoom into this illustrator file keeping its vector qualities to avoid pixellation as I zoom into it. For example when you zoom into a bitmap image of a circle in Photoshop, you see pixels, not the smooth curve of the circle; but when you zoom into a vector image of a circle in Illustrator, you don’t get the pixellation, it stays a smooth curve. How do I get this (vector, lossless quality) in Motion? -
Okay. In Illustrator, save it as an Illustrator Document, make sure Create PDF Compatible File is checked. Import the file into Motion. Open up the Project Pane. Click on the Media Tab. Select the file. Uncheck Fixed Resolution and you should be golden. Hope this helps.

Ok I’ve finally gotten back around to this project, Fixed resolution is working, but only in 2d… Am I doing something wrong still or does fixed resolution not work in 3d?
