Any ways, you can use the paint to to create a white stroke set to something like ink bleed or buy a product well worth the money called Compositors Toolkit. Compositors Toolkit Vol 1 has Cloud and Ink Chamber elements. You take them and make the black and with say the level filter or colorize filter. Create the element that you want to “paint” on and apply an Image Mask to it and you got a cool effect. For info on blend modes and image mask check out my Creating a Hologram video tutorial. The info you are after is in the middle of the tutorial. Hope this helps and best of luck.

Lots of great advice, another trick: when you copy the first keyframes or just re generate them move another frame down the time line and repeat. That will have the last keyframe effecting the repeated keyframe and will eliminate your problem. Best of luck.

Me personally, I like to key my subjects in FCP. Create the Lower Thirds and other graphics in Motion. Then I import the lower thirds and other graphics into FCP and place them above or below the subject.
When you jump from FCP to Motion to FCP there is no lose of quality if you have your settings set the same. You can simply drag Motion project files into FCP as if they were a movie. Hope this helps.

You said you edited the piece in FCP before you brought it into Motion. Can you re-import the video in smaller sections?
