This is what I would do:
Build my blue print or yank the one from LiveType, but it is only SD. In Motions Content there is a Grid.png image. Put that on a blue color solid or shape.Next, create a rectangle above the group with the Grid and color solid. Make the rectangle the size of the blue print rolled up. Ad a gradient to give it depth. Animate it from one side of the screen to the other. Add a mask to your group that has the grid and color solid in it. Animate the mask so it reveals the paper as the rectangle moves from one side of the screen to the other. It can look really cool. Hope this helps and best of luck.

I find Motion to be a great program. I only find heaviness of motion files in FCP renders when I have a super loaded Motion project file. In those situations I find that it is just easier and faster to export out the project to a Movie. Hope this helps. Another thing that I find helpful is to look for places to break a project into pieces so the Motion file is not to long and loaded with big files. Best of luck.Check out my Motion Training DVD

I think you could build this in FCP or Motion. I would do it in Motion. To make the bowl you could use the circle shape tool. Add a gradient. Then add two more circle shapes, one for the inner bowl and one for the black circle in the bowl. If you don’t want to do that I bet you could buy one on istockphoto for 10 bucks. Take some pictures of spoons. Add the Colorize filter and turn to bright colors. Add a slight rotation and then have them dissolve in and out in random places. Change the background color to white. I would do it in Motion. Add a light for the spot light. And for the flicker; select your background. Make sure it is selected in the Project Pane or Timeline. Go to the Properties tab. Right click on the Background Opacity. A drop down menu will appear. Choose Randomize or Oscillate. If you want your text to fade to zero opacity to full make the Opacity zero. Then go to the Behaviors tab. Make the Amount 100%. That will take the opacity to 0 to 100 because your opacity is currently zero. To make the fade on and off occur less frequently change the frequency to 1 or so.

Another way and possible easier to do it is make the image fade with keyframes and then set the keyframes to continue forever. It is better described in my Creating a Hologram tutorial.

Cannon offers a “log and transfer” plug-in to make this easy for the 5D and 7D. Unfortunately it does not work for the T2i. You will have to transcode all of the files to ProRes or some other codec in Compressor then edit those files. Hope this helps and best of luck.
