If you have not shot the person yet I recommend recording them in front of a green screen. Then it is very easy to place behind them.
If the footage is already shot; You can create a mask around the part of the person where the text is and then key frame the control points so they move with the person. OR you can let Motion do it for you. This is covered in my Creative COW Apple Motion Training DVD. I have a sample of what I’m talking about at the end of my kinetic typography video tutorial.

Instead of moving the control points every few frames you can let Motion do it for you. This is covered in my Creative COW Apple Motion Training DVD. I have a sample of what I’m talking about at the end of my kinetic typography video tutorial.

You may want to consider building it in Motion and then turn it into a template so you just swap out the text in FCP.

In the timeline is there a green bar above the clip? Clips that have to play in real time that have not been rendered can play at a lower quality.

Sorry, I was thinking you where having a simple problem with thin lines or something that will flicker because of interlacing. But It sound like the field order is off or something. I have never used iDVD so I don’t know about that program. Is there a reason why you are not using DVD Studio Pro?

If you have AE and want to learn it I say go for it. I think you will find that all of the Motion Forum leaders use AE and Motion.

I did it in text edit as well and it works for me. The link I posted has an update on what the text should say. Make sure it is the updated text.
