One other thing. When I first bring it into Zaxwerks it looks great. If I save the project and re-open it then I get the non-smooth surface.

DJ offers a Pal sized template. You have two chooses. HD or SD. You need to click on the SD one and then you will have 720 x 576 (25fps) as a choice. Best of luck.

Create a project that is 25ps. Open up the template you like. Make sure the timing pane or project pane is open on both. Drag all of the groups from the original timing pane and drag it over to the new project and Motion will convert the frames for you.
I’ve never done this but you can also open up the project in the text editor and change the frame rate there.

It sounds like you have it figured out. With hair be sure to add a feather to the mask. Also, Motion can track the control points for you so you don’t have to do it “every 5 frames” or so if you like. Unfortunately depending on the subject it can be easier to do the manual way. Your capture card may be able to do it. For example, the AJA card in my machine will convert 24 to 30 in real time as I lay the timeline to tape. Take a look at your card and see if it can do it. By the way, the AJA card does an awesome job of converting the frames. Hope this helps and best of luck.

Peter, I would not be surprised if you get a blank look from your client when you ask them what codec they want and what size it should be. I have found that it is rare when a client knows that. And I disagree, I don’t think the client should know that. When I purchased a new door for my house the carpenter didn’t ask me what size my door was…and it is a good thing he didn’t because how they measure it is different then how I would have measured it. It is your job to know what codec works best with Power Point. What settings work best for a crappy laptop. That is why they come to you, for your expertise and knowledge. Your job is to know what questions to ask and then make it work. Just my $.02.
