I have found that setting the project to “Best” can cause the problem you are having. Try setting the export to “Normal” and see if it works.

You also have access to a cool magnifying glass that comes with Motion. Go to Library, Content, Images, Traditions and then get Magnifying Glass 01.
It is the same magnifying glass I used in my Kinetic Typography tutorial.

As for Color & Looks. I use both. Color is an amazing color grading application that can do things the 3-way color corrector can’t. The learning curve is steep and it is not like anything else in the Final Cut Studio bundle. If you are going to learn it I highly recommend that you purchase Walter Biscardi’s ” Stop Staring and Start Grading with Apple Color “. Looks is used to give your clips a certain stylized look. Color can do that as well, however, Looks works in FCP as a plug-in where as Color is another program. In-order to get clips out of Color you have to export them and then let Color reconnect them in FCP. So you have that additional step. Looks comes with more unique looks then Color does. But Color can do so much more. Hope this helps and best of luck.

I would go with Keylight, a lot cheaper then Primatte and the version of Primatte that comes with FCP & Motion has very limited functionality. Keylight does a great job with hair and glass and it renders fast. It is only $250 or $235 at toolfarm.com
I used to use Ultimatte AdvantEdge, but it will not work with a 12-core machine. When I contacted support I was not happy to read this in their response, “AdvantEdge has been around for nearly a decade now and it is nearing it’s end-of-life.” AdvantEdge is not cheap so that was disappointing.

I think the Auto read my mind button is a great idea. ( AUTO OUTPUT BILL’S WORK IN A FORM EXACTLY AS HIS CLIENTS NEED IT AND MAIL IT TO THEM INSTANTLY IN A FORM THAT WILL WORK PERFECTLY WITHOUT FAIL )Except I think Apple needs to provide a way to change part of the button’s name from “Bill’s” to who ever is using it. So for me it would be, “AUTO OUTPUT Stephen’S WORK IN A FORM EXACTLY AS HIS CLIENTS NEED IT AND MAIL IT TO THEM INSTANTLY IN A FORM THAT WILL WORK PERFECTLY WITHOUT FAIL”
Other wise I would get confused and think only Bill could use that button and I would end up doing it manually. 🙂
