Okay… Just found a nifty feature called “Run as Administrator”. In the properties for the .exe you can set it to always run as the admin…

(On the .exe, right click, go to Properties; on the Shortcut tab click ADVANCED and check “Run as Administrator”).

However, it gives the “continue” dialog box when you start up…

Any thoughts on how to run the Vista PC without having to confirm everything you click?

  • Okay, I’m an idiot…

You have to have DOF on to see the focus line… I knew that!

Now, the error message is still a problem 😉

    THANKS!

Does this apply to all versions? I just got CS4 and am looking to tweak it to maximize my efficiency. Any other good tips?

May 22, 2009 at 3:52 pm in reply to: AE CS4 to CS3 Legacy Save?

Thanks, guys. I knew it was available in other aps such as PhotoShop and Illustrator (obviously not saving “new” stuff in legacy format, yadda yadda)… I just didn’t know if AE had that capability.

    Thanks again!

April 27, 2009 at 6:54 pm in reply to: ultimate AE workstation and problems…

I am looking to upgrade to a 64-bit machine and our IT dept. (yes, I’m in a corporate environment) says I need to use XP64 instead of Vista 64. I will be upgrading to CS4 also…

Should I bow out and let them install XP64 or fight for Vista 64?

    Thanks!

CAROLINA HURRICANES: 2006 STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS!

  • So I’ve lost about a week dealing with this issue, and I just decided to rebuild the entire project from scratch, using all the original files, etc.

Since the menus were already built, videos already rendered, etc., it took about 2½ hours and it worked fine. I let it transcode overnight and everything was fine.

I tried “Save As” at one point, and was having the same issues as the original project. So, just a “File… New…” away was the answer all along…

I did limit all of my processes to only Encore during the transcode/build process and that certainly helped. It transcoded everything and imported everything just fine.

Any upgrades to stability in CS4? I will be upgrading in just a couple of months anyway, just wondering if I have something to look forward to in that regard 😉

    Thanks for your help!

  • I will certainly try those and post responses.

Most likely, I’ll attempt to rebuild the project before I go nuclear on my hard drive 😉 It’s a big project, but I could probably rebuild it in a couple of days since all the elements are done.

Any suggestions on what file formats make Encore happiest (.mov/.avi, etc.)?

    Thanks again!!!

  • Sorry for the double post…

In addition, I’m getting an error that states there is a “problem setting up the transcoder” and then the program crashes (Send error report/don’t send…).

  • Mostly quicktime .mov or windows .avi files. I am running CS3 on Windows XP Pro.

    Thanks, again!

  • I actually have done this a couple of times (less uninstalling the Virus Scan…)

Other issues I am having include the program hanging up trying to import something that just transcoded…

I will once again dumb down everything else going on in the background as much as I can….

    Thanks for the prompt reply
