I know this isn’t an IT posting place, but it’s still an AE issue.

I’m trying to save effect presets in AECS4 on Vista 64bit Ultimate and I keep getting the error message above. It will not allow me to write directly to the AE Preset folder from AE.

I can, however, copy the file into the folder outside AE but I have to click through the Vista “Continue” dialog.

I am the administrator for this PC, as I built the thing myself. I just don’t know how to allow AE to write to these folders without having to do it myself.

    Any thoughts? THANKS!

Okay… Just found a nifty feature called “Run as Administrator”. In the properties for the .exe you can set it to always run as the admin…

(On the .exe, right click, go to Properties; on the Shortcut tab click ADVANCED and check “Run as Administrator”).

However, it gives the “continue” dialog box when you start up…

Any thoughts on how to run the Vista PC without having to confirm everything you click?

I’m not currently using a Windows box, but it sounds like a directory level permissions issue. FWIW try right-clicking on the offending directory and setting permissions to read and write.

It’s the simple things, isn’t it?!

I clicked on the AECS4 folder, as a whole and allowed all users (of which there is only one on my machine…) Full access to read/write.

When I restarted AE, I got the same “continue” message as happened before because I was running the program as an Admin.

So… I went back in, changed the setting to NOT run as an Admin.

When I restarted again, it did NOT prompt me to “Continue” AND I was able to save my FX presets to the AECS4 Presets folder WITHOUT the warning message.

THANK YOU!!! Not bad for a non-windows guy 😉
