However, AME did not get me results, either.
In speaking with Daktronics, it may be that we need an upgrade of their proprietary software, Venus7000.
If anyone is looking for this (I know, a niche market, to be sure), to render effectively from CS6, Daktronics claims that your V7000 software should be version 6.17 or newer. Our Venus 7000 is currently at 6.10. We’ll be upgrading this week.
I will update the post on whether it works or not 😉

Thank you, Joshua!
Bob: I have no other PCIe x1 cards installed and all peripherals have been taken out.
It is still failing to update the firmware and will lock the PC up if I attempt to open the Decilink Control Panel or even check the driver versions in the Device Manager.
I’m hoping that it’s something simple that I’m just overlooking, like perhaps a BIOS update or something. As a matter of fact, I’ll check that now….

Actually, my life is pretty crazy right now, thanks for asking. Besides, who are you to ask or judge? I also appreciate the helpful tone of your reply. It’s that kind of reply that makes user forums great.
While I understand the need to wait on hold, Blackmagic provides the voicemail option for folks who can’t necessarily wait on hold. It seems that if they have this option, they should return the calls at some point. I have tried various means of contacting them and have had no response or confirmation as to them receiving my request. If they are not going to answer voicemails, they shouldn’t have it as an option.
I also submitted two requests via Blackmagic’s contact page found at https://www.blackmagic-design.com/support/request/?sid=3945&pid=4013&os=win&leg=0
In addition, as part of the correspondence, I have left details at length in the messages. Because you asked nicely, I will also detail them here:
I installed a Blackmagic Decklink SDI card in my new Lenovo K330 PC running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit. I installed the card and ran the install disc as requested in the user manual. Once restarted, the card prompted me for a firmware update, just as the manual suggested it would.
For unknown reasons, the firmware will not update and the computer continually “hangs up” with the card installed. Also, in getting the PC up and running (with all the typical initial updates, etc.), the computer will not shut down all the way with the card installed.
Anyone with helpful comments on this issue, please feel free to lend them. If you are going to berate me for being busy, feel free to keep that to yourself.

[Joel Morales Escobar] “I found this, and it totally solved my issue:
Solution: Create a shortcut to the Premiere Pro executable file, rename the shortcut to Premiere, and move the shortcut to C:Program FilesCommon FilesAdobedynamiclink.
As dumb as it may sound, it worked! And I didn’t had to uninstall or reinstall nothing. I kept both my CS3 and CS4.
Good luck!

I had to re-install CS4 and CS5 recently. To keep the two versions from crashing each other on my machine I installed them to non-default locations. By doing this, it messed up the shortcuts in the dynamiclink folder. Fixing the application shortcut to the actual Premiere location solved the issue and I’m transcoding happily now.

February 23, 2011 at 4:16 pm in reply to: Premiere CS4 not working after CS5 installI am finally to a point where I can do something about this. Are there any suggestions on which version to uninstall and reinstall on a a new partition? I was going to uninstall CS5 on my primary partition and put it on the new partition.
Anyone have any ideas?

February 3, 2011 at 8:34 pm in reply to: After Effects CS5 Larger-Format Rendering IssuesThis is a reply I recieved after submitting a bug report with Adobe:
==========
Thanks for filing this bug.We have reproduced the problem.
In my testing, the bug behavior is limited to two conditions:
– The horizontal dimension of the composition is greater than 4095 pixels.
– The vertical dimension of the composition is less than the minimum required height for the format. For AVI the value is 32 pixels; for QuickTime and most other formats the value is 16 pixels.My best recommendation for a workaround is to render to QuickTime and then transcode to AVI using After Effects CS4 or earlier.
About the format constraints, which are new to After Effects CS5: they were added to solve the problem that previous versions of After Effects could pass parameters to the exporter modules that weren’t legal for the format. That could cause bad renders or render failures. Most of the constraints imposed by this new mechanism come from the format specifications and are not arbitrary. A more thorough description is available here:
https://blogs.adobe.com/toddkopriva/2010/06/output-module-constraints-in-a.htmlThe problem with the constraints that you’re working around, that the minimum size constraints for AVI aren’t small enough for your workflow, is actually a different problem from the constraint logic itself. Those values are simply fixed, and while I’m sure that the programmer who chose those values had a reason, I understand why they seem arbitrary.
This will be fixed in a future release of After Effects. AVI and QuickTime will have lower minimum size constraints.
The After Effects team has heard this complaint from you and several other customers creating content for stadium screens. Before we released CS5 I don’t think we understood how After Effects was used in the stadium screen workflow. The feedback we’ve gotten from customers like yourself has been very helpful.
There’s a convoluted explanation for why these particular limits exist for AVI and QuickTIme in After Effects CS5. The short version of the story is that CS5 needed 64-bit versions of the exporters, which were provided by Adobe Media Encoder, but their primary client is Premiere Pro, where two-digit frame sizes are uncommon. The After Effects team discovered the high minimum size constraints, but because we didn’t understand your particular workflow we made a bad assumption that the values were not a problem.
Ultimately, my apologies for the inconvenience caused by these two problems. We really do appreciate that you took the time to file the bug and express how the changes in After Effects CS5 impact your workflow.
==========
Basically, it will not be fixed in CS5, but in CS6… hopefully we’ll get a discount on it since it didn’t work for us 😉

December 29, 2010 at 5:04 pm in reply to: Premiere CS4 not working after CS5 installUnfortunately, I need both editions of the Creative Suite on my machine for reasons not necessary to discuss here.
Would this be as easy as uninstalling CS4 from my primary partition, then re-installing perhaps on a seperate partition or drive?
I appreciate the response!
