Yeah, even “Audio Jungle” watermark isn’t enough to stop some people.

We once sent a video to a client for approval containing a temporary track from Audio Jungle (to get the “OK” before purchasing the license and clean audio file). The client was so excited that they sent it to their web guy. Before we knew it they had it online… complete with the high-pitched “Audio Jungle” watermark!! I was horrified but the client didn’t even notice! It was clearly a mistake and not malicious on their part. We quickly purchased the song, swapped it out, and kindly asked that they remove the “Preview” version and replace it with the “FINAL” version.

So… even watermarks might not stop someone, intentional or unintentional 🙂 But at least the rest of us will notice!

  • Thank you Mark, that was exactly what I was trying to wrap my head around.

I’m sure each insurer will be unique, but would it be reasonable (in my case) to just request extra insurance (errors and omissions) for the few times I actually shoot fictional films or documentaries? Depending on the cost I’ve been cautioned to look into errors and omissions coverage even for corporate work, so I’ll definitely look into this.

    Thanks again for your time!

  • Thanks Jeff, that’s what I was afraid of but I thought I had seen it done before where a simple MPG file worked. But maybe I’m mistaken or maybe it was a non-standard thing this specific player could play.

In any case, I’ll see if I can explain to him how an ISO works but it might just be easier to drop disks in the mail as needed.

    I appreciate your insight!

  • Thanks Steven! It does make sense. I’m going to play around with your idea and I’ll let you know if we actually try it or not. The PitchShifter sounds intriguing. I’ve never used it with keyframes before, so I’m interested in seeing how it works!

    Thanks again!

    Thank you Chris,

So making it interlaced sounds like the right way to go (even though it’s Progressive now) as long as I change it FROM 30P TO to 59.94i uff?

The titles are placed in the title safe area so we should be good on that front.

Thanks for your help with this!

Sorry, I wasn’t clear on that. The spot is done and ready to export. So sending it to Media Encoder it looks like I now need to either downsize it or change from progressive to interlaced – one or the other. So, is one better than the other? Does that make sense?

In case it matters, the footage is h.264 .mov. There is some panning but no real fast motion.

    Thanks!

November 20, 2013 at 12:35 am in reply to: CC Light Sweep on 3d Extruded Shape layer?

Huh, I’ve never used lights as adjustment layers. When you say “sweep light” are you simply meaning a light that I add motion to, making it sweep?

I really like the CC effect because it adds a shine on the edge too, but maybe that’s where I just need to play around with a beveled edge. I am also having a hard time getting a streak with the light, rather I keep getting hot “spots” of light, not the sharp lines… If this is the best option I guess I’ll start learning 3D lighting better as it sounds like it can do a lot. I was hoping for a trick to use the filter as it does exactly what I want (and is easily controllable). BTW, the 3D shape is also rotated so I can’t just add a 2D layer with a mask either.

    Thank you for your suggestions!

    Thanks,
I only have Mocha AE so I’ll try the stamp tool. Thanks again,

  • “Not to derail the thread Stephen, but I love the opening music…what track is that?”

    Thanks John,
The music is “The Grand Reveal” by Tim McMorris https://audiojungle.net/item/the-grand-reveal/4747460

If anyone’s interested in seeing the non-turquoise version 🙂 it’s posted here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_KntiT48uU

To get rid of the color distortion upon export I had to turn off Max Depth- this worked for all export codecs I tried (DNxHD, H.264, etc).

If anyone can give a reason or solution which enables me to always use max depth I would still be open to hearing the reason! But for now at least this works for my needs.

    Thanks!

  • Thanks for that information Ivan!

I’ll try out some of the other light/uncompressed codecs as the issue I dealt with was with DNxHD and the whites being over-exposed upon export. It was an easy workaround (I simply turned off max depth) for the next exports) but it again left me with some subtle banding.

I used to use MXF but I don’t recall the settings I was using or why I switched. I’m sure I have a preset somewhere to start trying different settings again.

Thanks again for sharing your knowledge!
