This sounds like the drive does not recognize the media. Every DVD burner has internal firmware, usually in flash so that it can be upgraded, that includes a lookup table for the burn characteristics of the blank media. Usually when a media is not recognized, you get a default set of parameters. I’ve never seen one outright reject the media like this.
Have you tried other media, such as a DVD-RW? Are you trying to burn a DS disc on a Single-sided drive? Is the drive really old?

Unless you are putting the video on a streaming server, download then play is your only option.

This is not unusual, but I have reduced my “won’t play” complaints significantly. Never, Ever burn at the max rate of the DVD burner. Pick something in the middle. If 2X is the only option your burner offers, then it probably doesn’t recognize the make of the blank disc (so it can’t look up the manufacturer’s burn parameters in the drive firmware). This means that you should update the DVD burner firmware.

I have also been running the Beta version of W7, though not with Vegas yet. I could not stand Vista in any form, but W7 seems to have fixed everything I didn’t like about Vista.

More likely, your PC is crashing while rendering in Vegas.
In addition to the other details requested above – Is the PC overclocked? Does the crash occur at the same point in the render or is it random? Have you rendered other projects without problem before now? Can you try re-rendering a project that rendered OK before? (There may be a conflict with something that you recently installed.)Steve Mann

You can use as many monitors as Windows will support. Windows will run as many monitors as you can plug in video adapter cards.
Personally, I can’t imagine editing with only one monitor.

As Spot and others have said, any use other than your personal entertainment would be a copyright violation subject to civil and criminal processes.
However…
I have asked videographers for the past few years if anyone has ever been busted or personally know someone who was busted for copyright violation. In the wedding video area, it’s been a big zero. In corporate videography I found one videographer who received a take-down notice because he was stupid enough to use popular rock music on his web demo, and one who knows a client (not his) who had to pay big bucks for licensing a piece of music in a corporate video. This one has to be discounted because it comes from third-hand information. (I am only looking for first and second-hand data).
That doesn’t mean that one day the Copyright Cops won’t take down a few wedding videographers to make some examples.

Use your camera. Firewire out of Vegas PC into the camera, then s-Video or component video (whatever the camera has) to the projector.
