What format you deliver depends on how the client will view the video. The most common today is probably an AVC format in an MP4 container. In “Render As” you select one of the AVC templates.
If you want to make DVDs later, you will have to encode the video into MPEG2.

Are you trying to make a DVD or Blu-Ray?
Also, are you trying to make it a difficult task?
I do all my editing in Vegas, and in “Render As” using a DVDA template. I then use DVDA to make my discs.

The reason modern digital cameras don’t have a sample tone (but almost all of them do color bars) is because in the digital world, reference tones are irrelevant. They were critical for level control in analog world where everything was a contributing variable. Some old (key word, old) pros will disagree with me, but in digital recording, as long as you don’t clip the input audio you are safe and you set your final levels in post. I adjust my input levels to peak between -6 to -3 dB depending on the source. It’s low enough to not clip and high enough to give me all the headroom I need in post.
Cameras still provide color reference bars because every camera model processes colors differently. Take a Canon and a similar Sony camera and shoot the same scene at the same time and at the same settings, and there will be a color difference between them. You can shoot and color balance a white card at the start to minimize the differences.
But audio – just don’t clip.

In a post on its Creators blog, YouTube said it plans to “launch support for 48 and even 60 frames per second in the coming months.”

“Then again if Vegas and all our other editing tools and plugins go
this root, what are we gonna do?”As long as Vegas tempts me with compelling new features with every upgrade cycle, I’ll keep upgrading.
Not that I would ever endorse it, but the ransom model will just increase the pirated copies.
From Gizmodo:“Just one day after the official roll out of Creative Cloud, a certain Ching Liu has already uploaded a torrent link to The Pirate Bay which provides a cracked version of the software. Named “Adobe Photoshop CC 14.0 Final Multilanguage”, comments left by Pirate Bay users suggest it works just great.
It remains to be seen if it will work long-term—the new desktop apps have to to connect to Adobe’s servers every month to re-validate their subscription status—but clearly Liu has got around the connectivity issues required for install. And clearly Adobe needs to up its anti-piracy game. [FStoppers via Peta Pixel]”

I had no idea of the cost of games, but the news that yet another platform is going rental is what I saw.
As I’ve said in the past, when a company like Adobe needs to switch to a subscription model, it means they are out of ideas for new features. Think of your own upgrade habits – you are probably feature-driven. When there’s compelling new features in the upgrade, people will upgrade. When they run out of ideas for new features, their survival depends on a ransomeware model. This is what is happening at Adobe.

There is a trial version of SonicFirePro from SmartSound. The Vegas plug-in just makes it easier to use with Vegas. Personally, I think the price of the Vegas script is a bit high for what it does.

For John:
The sds editor was mentioned here: https://www.audiofile-engineering.com/support/manuals/we/1/html/index.htmlBut, I decided to tinker a bit.
In “C:ProgramDataSmartSound Software IncSound Files Hits” create a new directory named “My Hits”
Put a .wav file in “My Hits”.

Not at $99 PER YEAR, following Adobe over the subscription cliff.

I wonder if you could make your own hitfiles? They are sds files and they play in VLC, so why couldn’t you make your own? Problem I’ve found is that there doesn’t seem to be any sds support in any PC audio editor. I did find one for the Mac, though.
