Chris, thanks so much for this! It was driving me mad that when I tried to apply a cross-fade to thousands of stills already on the timeline, it would only do every other event. The trick is to do it to BOTH ends of the event as you described.

I have a deadline – making a Requiem for My Cat Max video, it will go in his casket (which will be entombed in cement in my backyard with markers )for future archaeologists. He will not last more than a day or two.

No time now, but will post some more info on Max The Cat ASAP. He is the best …

    Saw it, odd.

I’ve not yet installed SVP13, but I have it ready …

  • Update:

Without changing any setting, without rebooting from the previous fail, I tried again.

This time I sat in front of the computer for hours and just watched it render. Tick, tock, tick, tock. Drip, drip, drip.

    Naturally, this time it finished.

I’m really, really beginning to hate Sony …

  • Thanks, Stephen. Sticky keys was not on.

That would have produced consistent behavior. The problem does not always happen, I can edit a bit, then when the bug thinks I am not looking, it happens.

I gritted my teeth and finished the edit. Two different videos for a BD. The longer one rendered fine using Main Concept to .m2v 1080 25 Mbps 60i.

The shorter one will not render. No crash, it just “stops” at random points – 37%, 75%, etc. The clock keeps running, but CPU util goes to zero and the render does not finish.

This is the first major problem(s) I have had with SVP12. Very frustrated. Have pretty much tried everything but a Vegas re-install.

Running x64 build 770. is there a newer one?

I have been using LG now for years, just ordered the new 16x unit. Also comes with decent free software, CyberLink Media Suite 10 if you buy the bundle and not the bare drive.

Sorry about the delay in my reply.

Looking at your new screen shots, it appears that the event split (BTW, the term in event, not clip) is not on a frame boundary.

Try setting Vegas to show Unquantized frames. If it shows that the boundary is unquantized, you might need to re-split the event on a quantized boundary.

I have sometimes fixed various Vegas oddness by doing a Cleanup Prerendered Video and deleted all prerendered video.
