The most frequent problem for new Mac OS is permissions. Make sure all Encore folders and files are read/write.
This link is for Premiere, but may have some relevant info.
Not sure about Mac reset; see this link:

Your issue reminds me of the “Photoshop -1” error that Mavericks users were getting (when it was new). The workaround was not to left click and to use right click or menu commands. Perhaps the parallel for you would be not using keyboard shortcuts?
In any event, permissions have the best chance of fixing the problem.

There were some issues with Macs and psd functions.
Once imported, is the menu in the menu viewer?
Can you import a menu from the library?
You say you reset the library preferences; do you mean the Encore preferences?
Was 5.1 working okay previously?

I think the answer is no.
I’ll also note that doing lots of “replace” anything (or any changes) with Encore often results in problems, so your caution is wise.
A “save as” may your best insurance, to keep a copy you can go back to, but that provides little more than making a manual list of the markers.

Animated buttons are not supported in Encore multipage menus.

You can put an image thumbnail, but I do not know if these work correctly in a multipage menu. Remember that the background layer for a multipage is defined in page 0 only. An Encore animated button becomes part of the motion background (and probably why an animated button would not work in a multipage, Encore or not).

June 28, 2017 at 12:08 pm in reply to: Low Storage Space Error When there is Plenty of SpaceAre you sure the error is “not enough space on media” and not “not enough disk space”? There are 2 different errors.
Some users experience this error when they are creating dual layer BD disks, and a layer is more than 25G. Each video/layer must fit on one side.

May 18, 2017 at 11:17 am in reply to: Blu-ray multipage menu doesn’t go to selected page! You can keep audio playing continuously. And (for better and for worse) the background image is the same.
Adobe lost the licensing options when Rovi bought Sonic and killed all the authoring products. Adobe would have had to start a new product from the ground up, and it was not worth the investment. Lots of people still delivering disks, and it is a frustration. Luckily, Encore keeps working on operating systems it was never designed for.

May 17, 2017 at 11:14 am in reply to: Blu-ray multipage menu doesn’t go to selected page!Multipage menus do not preview in Encore. You must build the project and test with a burned disk or a software emulator that interprets the menus correctly. The only one I have found that does this reliably is Total Media Theater. For example, in my test project, VLC player plays the video file, but will not show the menu.

Select the menu and look in properties. For default button, select “none.” Does that work?

A Microsoft update KB4013429 March 14, 2017 created issues with the mpeg2 handling libraries. I do not think this is your issue, but some users (in the Encore forum) reported odd and inconsistent behaviors. So it is possible it has added to your woes. I did not see the problem till I tested it in response to reported problems. On one PC, every access of an mpeg file in Windows Explorer resulted in a “silent” crash (explorer just closed without opening the file) and same for Encore trying to import a file. On another PC with the same updates installed, I had no problems.

Some users struggled with removing updates, but this was fixed by a March 20 update, KB4015438.https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/help/4015438

For other users seeing this. You do not now need to roll back. Just install the new update: KB4015438.
