  • Adobe Encore crashes upon menu creation

I have a problem: whenever I import a PSD menu into Encore CS5.1 for a Blu-Ray project, Encore just quits on me. The PSD file appears in the project’s Sources > Menus folder, but Encore crashes even if I hit Command-M (New Menu). I’ve tried deleting the preferences file from the library, but it still didn’t work.

    iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2012)
    3.1 GHz Intel Core i7
    16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

There were some issues with Macs and psd functions.

Once imported, is the menu in the menu viewer?

Can you import a menu from the library?

You say you reset the library preferences; do you mean the Encore preferences?

    Was 5.1 working okay previously?

No. There are no menus in the viewer.

Can you import a menu from the library?
I don’t think so. Which library?

You say you reset the library preferences; do you mean the Encore preferences?
    I mean the .plist file.

    Was 5.1 working okay previously?
Yes, the last time I used it, a few months ago, I think before the upgrade to High Sierra.

The most frequent problem for new Mac OS is permissions. Make sure all Encore folders and files are read/write.

This link is for Premiere, but may have some relevant info.

    https://blogs.adobe.com/kevinmonahan/2014/09/10/premiere-pro-cc-freezing-on-startup-or-crashing-while-working-mac-os-x-10-9-and-later/

Not sure about Mac reset; see this link:

Your issue reminds me of the “Photoshop -1” error that Mavericks users were getting (when it was new). The workaround was not to left click and to use right click or menu commands. Perhaps the parallel for you would be not using keyboard shortcuts?

In any event, permissions have the best chance of fixing the problem.

It also crashes when I use any method other than keyboard shortcuts. I even tried opening a previously made project with a menu in it, and while that old menu worked, it crashed every time I tried to create another menu in the same project. It works when I import a PSD file as an asset, but not as a menu.

Were your permissions set correctly? did you need to change any?

    Hi, Guillermo,
I’m having the same problem using Encore CS5 with Mac High Sierra OS 10.13.4. This is driving me bonkers. Every time I try to add a new menu, whether with File > New > Menu, command-M, double-clicking one from the library, etc., it crashes the program. I’ve also tried trashing the preferences and even restarting the machine.
Did you ever find a solution?
    Thanks,
    Karen
