“image echoes itself” as in Effect->Time->Echo? Again, it’s hard for me to guess without seeing the spot. It was obviously produced with much effort so I’m not sure if you’re original question (“How they did it”) refers to the whole production or just one of the effects.

Do you mean the trailer shown here?

If not, it would probably increase your chances of getting a response if you could describe the spot…

Thanks Mylenium, this looks amazing. Can’t wait to see Reality and Toxicity in action.

Just to chip in as usual with the vote for XSI. I’m not sure how one can get C4D for less than $495, the retail price for XSI Foundation which is an amazingly comprehensive app. Of course ultimately it’s up to personal needs and preferences – that’s just one more good reason to give Softimage a go. It is truly brilliant.

Yes, Helge Mathee has an XSI plugin – basically, a script – to do just that. To get it, visit http://www.mindthink.de, click “Codeteam”, register, then browse the projects – it’s number 2, AfterEffectsXSI. Let me know if you run into trouble getting it.

    * Macromedia – Ahem, Adobe – Flash (obviously)
    * Moho by Lost Marble (Inverse Kinematics in 2D!)
    * Plastic Animation Paper (not really for character work, but great nevertheless!)
    * Any of the main 3D apps (obviously). Personlly I recommend XSI, it is especially powerful for character work and has some nice built-in models, rigs and animations (check out the Net View).
    * Poser (well, not really, but it has some nifty built-in walk and run cycles you can render flat and use, say, in AE)

    Good luck,
