I didn’t mean the user’s manuals, I was asking about tutorial material. FCS1 came with a tutorial video DVD, as well as another DVD with some lessons on each of the applications (pretty much like the Apple Pro Training books, but shorter). I was hoping to go through some of the lessons, but there was no such disc with my FCS2 package. The install manual mentioned an “Apple Pro Training Final Cut Studio Tutorial Disc” with pdf manuals and supporting content, so I was just wondering if I was missing that disc.

BTW, on the DVX100, color bars are always recorded as 60i.

I believe 2x2GB DIMMs are better than 4x1GB DIMMs for several reasons: they allow future expansion, and you incur some wait states if you access the memory in the 3rd and 4th slots out from the motherboard. The downside is that the 2GB DIMMs are still a little more expensive and 2x1GB – but prices are coming down fast.
Lots of people buy from Crucial or Other World Computing.

As far as FCP is concerned, cutting on movement is the same as cutting on non-movement. The software doesn’t know if the if the clips contain movement or not. Therefore, you shouldn’t have to render.
Do you normally have to render when you just do straight cuts? Does your timeline setting match those of your clips? Do you have effects or transitions on the clips? These are some things that may require rendering.

My Mac Pro didn’t recognized my camcorder when I used the firewire connector in the front of the computer. But for some reason, the connector in the back worked.
