Does FCS2 come with tutorial dics?
Posted by Soreyrith Um on July 5, 2007 at 1:34 pmI just upgraded to FCS2, and I noticed that the install manual listed a tutorial disc with pdf manuals as part of the contents. I did get a tutorial disc, but it’s a video dvd only, no pdf manuals. Am I missing something here? FCS1 came with both.

July 5, 2007 at 1:52 pmThanks for the quick reply, Tom.
I didn’t mean the user’s manuals, I was asking about tutorial material. FCS1 came with a tutorial video DVD, as well as another DVD with some lessons on each of the applications (pretty much like the Apple Pro Training books, but shorter). I was hoping to go through some of the lessons, but there was no such disc with my FCS2 package. The install manual mentioned an “Apple Pro Training Final Cut Studio Tutorial Disc” with pdf manuals and supporting content, so I was just wondering if I was missing that disc.

July 5, 2007 at 2:23 pmMine didn’t. The only video were demos of the products, no tutorial media. If you bought from a VAR it might have been an added product. I’m doing a tutorial disc with media for FCS that’s going to be added by VARs to their bundles.
All the best,
Tom

July 12, 2007 at 1:17 amI’ve been checking out the FCS2 Tutorial DVD and it takes a different approach than last time around.
With FCS 1.5 (Academic) I received (1) a video DVD with tutorial clips, and (2) an Apple data DVD looking exactly like the others and entitled “Final Cut Studio Tutorials” containing project files for Final Cut Pro, Soundtrack Pro, Motion and DVD Studio Pro. (The data disc was not labeled Academic or Educational.) The video tutorials began with an overview of each app, then stepped the user through a “how to” utilizing content from the data disc. Only a couple of processes were covered per app, but being new to FCS at the time, I did check them out.
The new FCS2 (Academic) video DVD is limited to overviews showing what’s new in FCS2. The lessons begin with content already in place and do not step the user through specific processes. This is probably fine if you’re already up to speed with FCS 1.x, just not so helpful for new users.
