I just installed FCP 6.0 (had version 5.0) and now it doesn’t recognize my VX2000 (I checked and the DV port is on). I tried reinstalling Quicktime for some reason but that didn’t help. FCP opens and when I go to log and capture it is “unable to initialize video deck”.

    Help!!

When you reinstalled QT (which was a good idea BTW) did you trash the receipts for it first? if not try that and reinstall again.

If that fails, you might try resetting your PMU button found on the motherboard with your Mac disconnected from power entirely.

My Mac Pro didn’t recognized my camcorder when I used the firewire connector in the front of the computer. But for some reason, the connector in the back worked.

Everytime I try to capture video from my SONY DCR-TRV11, the following message pops up: “Unable to initialize video deck.” I tried to capture on my copy of Final Cut Express, as well as on my friend’s Final Cut Pro 5, with the same results. However, both versions of final cut were able to recognize my friend’s VX2100. Is this a hardware issue? How can I begin to capture from the DCR-TRV11?

    Thanks,
