Wow, cool! I’ll give it a try when I get home tonight.

Okay, I started a brand new project, and made sure the General tab’s PAR setting was 0.9 (DV NTSC). When I imported some KNOWN 0.9 PAR output from AE, PP7 interpreted it as 1.0 instead of 0.9. Bummer.

I do have a point of correction on my last post…when I pull in video directly from my video cam it is properly interpreted.

So, it looks like the issue is AE, so I did the following experiment. I generated a short AVI clip from AE using the Microsoft DV codec and the same short clip using NO COMPRESSION (what I usually use). Then, I imported both into PP7. PP7 properly interpreted the Microsoft DV clip, but misinterpreted the uncompressed one. Weird! I’d be happy to use the Microsoft DV codec out of AE, but the images aren’t as crisp, so I don’t like it.

Any more thoughts from anyone out there?

Seems like I’ve looked at this before, but I’ll check it out again tonight. Thanks for the advice!

Remember, I’ve been running PPro7 (NOT PPro2) fine for about a year with an Athlon XP 1600+. Based on the feedback here, my interest was in upgrading the CPU, but I’m not interested in upgrading to PPro2.

Okay, I am using PPro7. I have PC3200 DDR (not DDR2) RAM, and an AGP-slotted dual-VGA-out video card I’d like to not replace. Won’t this combo work with a socket A board and an Athlon XP 3200+ chip?

Excellent. The BIOS does have a selection for 200MHz, so hopefully that’ll cover it. I will also get the new BIOS file if needed.

This should take some of the “weenie” out of my system.

    Thanks,

    Tom

Thanks; where did you find your Sempron 3300, and what “socket” does it fit? My MOBO is a Socket 462 / Socket A. I can’t find Socket 462-fitting chips at the popular parts houses (TigerDirect, etc.).

I was afraid you were gonna say that, but I had to ask to make sure. Thanks so much for the input.
