Yes. The AVI file is DEAD in the audio track. But, I did find a bit of a workaround. I rendered the video only, then rendered the audio only, then pulled the two into PP7 and rendered a finished product. Frustrating to have to do this, but at least it worked.

Now things are weirder. I can render the audio-only track to an AVI file, and it renders in full. When I checkmark the box to render video also, the audio cuts out about 5 seconds before the end of the resulting AVI file. AAUGGHHH!!!!!!

Thanks; I could probably also leverage AE6.5 for a similar process. But I just hate workarounds when something worked perfectly before.

I started 100% from scratch: brand new HD, brand new XP install, brand new PP7 install, etc…I didn’t want to risk registry nightmares…

I did…latest and greatest of everything. What’s odd is, PP7 plays the film fine in the Monitor panel…plays it exactly as I have constructed it. It’s in the final rendered AVI file that the sound drop occurs.

Bummer! My idea didn’t work. Any other ideas out there?

This may work; I’ll try it tonight when I get home.

No, it doesn’t help, and this is my frustration. I do have one thing I want to try when I get home tonight, so I’ll post again later.

    Thanks for the advice.

Yep, sure is. For instance, when I bring up AE 6.5 or CoolEdit Pro, they automatically launch into the layout I’ve set for them, which spans both monitors. It’s only a Premiere problem, that’s the weird thing.

I have the same problem after doing an XP install-repair! I changed out my motherboard, and of course XP thinks it’s in a different machine, so I had to install-repair XP.

I got nearly everything back, except that AE6.5 gives me the same error you describe. It’s really irksome!!

If I delete the bad file, or just acknowledge the error, will it impact the ability to import/export AVI files?

I’d really like to solve this instead!

    Thanks
