Try going to Clip/Modify/Audio Channels. You should be able to set it from there.

December 19, 2016 at 9:33 am in reply to: 3D tracking green screen markers

An effective way of isolating the tracking marks here would be to use your keyer to composite the image over, say, a white background (or you could simply display the B&W matte view) and that way the tracking marks will really stand out and be easy to track.

However, it’s far from ideal (!) to try and do a 3D track off three closely spaced tracking marks all on the backing since you are providing barely any parallax for the tracker to get to grips with. At the very least, have widely spaced tracking marks, but preferably also have trackable objects on a plane (or planes) that isn’t the background. It is essential to give the tracker enough parallax in the shot that it can solve the camera position.

  • As Marc says, Easy DCP is something you have to pay for and is included in Resolve as a demo only.

However, if you have Adobe Creative Cloud, you can use Media Encoder to create DCPs using the built-in version of Wraptor.

In Resolve, if you select your clip and right click and go to Clip Attributes and set it to Video (or Auto) rather than Full, you should see the same result as you are seeing in FCP X.

  • Usually the only way to deal with noisy footage (and yes, it’s the low lighting which is causing you grief here most of all) is to run it through Neat Video:

(Of course, there are other keyers on the market besides Primatte that might do a better job, but let’s not get into that here.)

December 11, 2016 at 7:18 pm in reply to: Length of Transitions

    Does this explain it better?

If you were to offset your outgoing and incoming clips onto two separate tracks, as I have done here, you should be able to find 5 seconds before the transition centre point on the incoming clip, and 5 seconds after the transition on the outgoing clip.

If you cannot find those extra five seconds in each case, your transition cannot be the full 10 seconds long. The upshot of that is that you move your outgoing clip earlier on the timeline (shortening your overall sequence in the process). You can do this by ripple trimming either the head of the incoming clip or the tail of the outgoing clip as appropriate until you have the required 5 second handles.

What I meant is that this normally occurs because there is not enough overlapping material to create the transition.

If you want to 10 second dissolve between two clips, you need at least 5 seconds extra on the end of the outgoing clip and at least 5 seconds extra on the front of the incoming clip. Its sounds as though one of your clips doesn’t meet these criteria.

The other possibility is that you are using nests?

Are you sure there is enough media on both sides to create the transition?
