  • Where are ingest settings? No Check box, no option under project settings

Posted by Dan Mcguire on December 3, 2016 at 11:49 am

A number of tutorials tell me that there is an ingest settings checkbox in the media browser, and also on the pull-down menu, along with “general” and “scratch discs” under the “project settings” pulldown.

Well, this isn’t true, at least on my version of premiere pro cc 2015.

What do I do? How do I ingest and make proxies?

Oh, and the “help” window in Premiere has never heard of ingest settings either!

    Go to File/Project Settings/Ingest Settings.

Do you have CC 2015, or the CC 2015 that came out in June (CC 2015.3) that everyone thought was supposed to be CC 2016, which actually came out in November? I’m guessing you have the CC 2015 that came out in June of 2015. That version doesn’t have the easy ingest feature.

I assume if you have a subscription to adobe creative suite you get the most recent version!
How do I get the better version?

The same way you got the version you currently have.

Dan, you need to upgrade your CC2015 version of Premiere to the new CC2017 version. You will then see the ingest settings.

Go to your Creative Cloud desktop Application and click on Apps and you should see an update available for Premiere CC2017 version.

If you want to keep your current 2015 version to run along side CC2017, make sure you check the Advanced Options, uncheck the box “remove old versions.”

I’m running 2015.4 and shows up for me as the third tab of the Project Settings:
