Are you using net render over a heterogeneous network?

September 28, 2009 at 8:44 am in reply to: Tiff sequence not loading as video materialI’m back to answer one of my own questions again in the hope that someone else who is experiencing similar problems may be relieved of them easier than i was.
To load image sequences into a material, all of the image sequence needs to be placed into the tex folder of the project. Then load the sequence from there into a material in c4d and use the animation options to tailor to your needs.
Simple fix really, but not an obvious one.
Hope this helps.

August 25, 2009 at 4:24 pm in reply to: cloner and random effector z axis randomnessOk, so it looks like i missed one parameter!
Short answer is to play with the min and max strengths of random effector and animate these as well as the actual strength value.

Sometimes you will feel like smashing your comp or switching apps because of annoying issues. I am glad my words helped someone else. Communities that have given me so much deserve a little putting back every now and again.

Hi Brian,
Your suggestion works fine. It seems as though the material jumps when i do a connect. It stays on the correct part of the model, but its orientation changes. Is this something to do with UV mapping? I tried spatial and the jump issue seemed to be cured.
Also, i noticed that a glass material did not translate well in the final connect. Is this usual behavior when using this technique?

I have tried tiffs, pngs, tga and even jpegs.
I have tried to manually dictate the frames that are played through the animation tab and i have used calculate. I have tried this on MAC and PC both R11.
The same thing keeps happening. Frame 1 loads and then i get a texture error when i move through the timeline. Cinema is clearly not recognizing image sequences of any kind. It has no such issues when i use movie files such as avi on pc and mov on mac.
for the first time since using C4D i am seriously considering swapping programs and all the BS that it will entail.

OK so I have scoured around here and other places and i still cannot figure this one out. I have tried making selection tags for each of the elements and the connecting them all. The selection tabs appear along with all the materials onto one new mesh, but the mesh still has no materials applied and appears the default colour.
What is it that i am doing wrong?
My workflow is like this:
Polygon selection – select all polygons in sub-mesh
Selection – set selection
Rename selection tag to sub-mesh name
Select material – drop set selection into material selection tagRepeat for all other sub-meshes
Select all sub-meshes – Connect

Responding to my own post, but to not answer a question that you know the answer to would be sacrilege. I found the answer on another forum:
Hi there,
you’re right, it only appears if you have it lower than 100% transparent, even 99% works. Maxon have changed the way glass materials work quite a bit in R11, so it’s not too surprising. So in this case I just recomment to use transparencies slightly less than 100% to get virtually the same result.
