April 17, 2008 at 2:49 pm in reply to: Render starts then hangs/stalls indefinitelyHave you tried rendering to a different codec? Every once in a while when I try rendering out to certain codecs cinema will refuse to render, changing the codec fixes that for me. The other thing is, if the render created a file make sure you delete it.

If there are no objects interacting with the mud, make it using textures, interactive mud will take some doing, and could be rather complex to deal with when rendering. Especially if you are only rendering on one machine.

What kind of a computer do you have? Mac Pro, G5…?
Your computer is designed to turn off automatically if it gets too hot, but it sounds like your motherboard may be bad. Personally I would take all my esata drives off the computer and make sure they are fine and try replacing the motherboard its a good guess though if your computer boots the mother board is at least to some extent fine. It could also be a bad GPU. have you tried your esata card and GPU in another computer to rule out the esata card and GPU being bad?
Hope this helps

The only way I am aware of is to encrypt files on your disc, or create a hidden partition. The problem with any security solution on a computer is as soon as you allow access to the hard drive that is not through the network or other OSX security all bets are off. The question would in this context be what do you want to prevent access to? Personally if I have sensitive files, I keep them on a separate encrypted drive using 128-AES encryption and a 32 character randomly changed password.
Hope this helps

Does the date on your computer clock show 01/05/08?
or is it changing?

Check in your system prefs under keyboard and mouse and look to see if your modifier keys have been changed.

Yes depending on the applications. For example Cinema 4D easily, programs like photoshop and others can be more difficult. Please provide a list of what software you want to move. The other question is do you still have the serial numbers, is so you could try talking to the manufacturer and see if they will send you a new install disc.

If I recall correctly SnapZ Pro will do the trick, it depends though on how high quality you need. Also if I may ask what your planning on doing with it?
