You can’t go to a Quadro 4500 card since you don’t have PCIe… if your computer is early 2005, and dual 2.7ghz procs…

    Sorry….

FCP when you render should scale the footage, but it probably won’t look as good as third party software, and it will take a long time…

It sounds like you locked the tracks, look on the side of the time line where it shows track numbers you should see little Icons that have locks on them make sure none of them are clicked….

  • Boot off your system disc and repair your disc, and see if you just have catelog problem… if so make sure you don’t change anything because the more you change the less likely you are to get your data back…

I wouldn’t do the lacie porche drive, I have had to many bad experiences with them bad FW busses and the like… but I do recommend the Lacie D2 drives G-Raids, Lacie Triple Extreme drives…

July 17, 2006 at 5:43 pm in reply to: Firewire 800 card necessary?

Well that depends on the performance you want… if you want the vest performance possible as would be needed with HD then get a separate FW 800 card if you don’t need maximum performance then the internal should be fine.. personally I would put them on two busses but thats me…

Try uninstalling FCP I can’t recall if the installer has the option if not… Delete:
the application, application support files in you library folder, preferences, and render and scratch files on your internal system drive located in the docs folder, and the reciepts out of the library… then re-install the application…

If this is what you have already done, and mean by re-install then, what has changed besides the blackmagic card in your system…?

  • What system are you using exactly is it a bunch FW drives that are daisy chained or is it a FW 800 drive and FW 400 drive that your copying data to and getting these errors?

Have you verified permissions on your system drive?

I have heard that panther can have problems with large files at time… I would since they are a bunch of quicktime files try if the drives are daisy chained hooking them up one at a time and copying the data to the locations directly… Also this will allow you to see if its a problem with the drives in your chain…

If your not using a daisy chain I would still copy the data direct to the drive not from one to another…

You may have a file corruption problem though.. if you have those files backed up I would try copying those and see if that works…
