Think the ATTO helpline is US.. I’m in UK. Going to speak to our raid supplier first. Only installed this evening so will run though again with him.
One intresting thing I found.. On the AJA test the worst one for spikes in the graphs is 720P60 8 bit.. it spikes way more than the smaller frame size tests or the large ones.
And another one is I set the raid quickly to raid0 and ran a full speed test..
It’s the opposite with this card.. the write graph is as flat as a pancake!.. but read is really spiked.. highpoint was opposite.. although never as flat as the ATTO.
I’ve set it to 128 and raid5 and left it chunterin away…
will keep you updated.

Cheers.. seems I cant use DVRAID.. think it require more than 8 disks :-/
Though I’ll run raid5 n build overnight.. be good to compare when yours arrives.

Ok tried a DVRaid and config gave an error
Operation failed: ERROR Incorrect number of RAID Group members for QuickVideo config..
All 8 drives are showing :-/

You have quite a few options here. Depends on how much extra “stuff” you wish to carry around and where you’ll need to use the drive.
1st is power. You can get external drives that have a power supply. and you also have bus powered drives. Bus powered get the power from the computer.. but zap the battery on ya laptop quicker.. but mean you can use the disc when not near a power supply.
2nd. connection.
USB2
Firewire400
Firewire800
eSataI’d stick to FW800 or eSata. These are both pretty quick. eSata will require a can to go into the side of your macbookpro. FW800 will just go straight in.
I’d stay away from Lacie myself, always had problems with them, but thats me.
Other option is to build your own.. you can buy a case and then choose a specific drive.

We send drives quite alot down to London and just use external drives. Normally maxtor or segate.. even the smaller ones.
RevPro is just Iomega Rev by the looks, can’t see any better specs.
Plus it’s usb or FW 400 only.Your fastest option is something like the new seagate external 500gig with e-sata. The drive comes with options for FW400 and usb2 so other end don’t need e-sata.

The Gig-E ones have dual gig-e ports on the back. Not sure quite how that works bit they are alot more expensive, they also have a raid controller on board I recall. Also appears they will serve pc or macs as well.
