    yes, i uses fractal noise for the background….i’ve created these stripes with a tutorial of the AE podcast but the original background is a footage of a tree…blowing in the wind….
    i’ve also used some grungy textures to create dirt.
    the beam of light is only made of the original text-layer with a directional blur….
    i’ve set the opacity of the text layer to 0 and set the directional blur to a very high value…then i’ve animated these two settings.
    finally i’ve set the blending mode to “add” which creates this light-effect.

    @wuzelwazel
    do you mean i should export a mov-file with a mpeg-4 codec?
    do i need any codecs or can i export mpeg-4 with the standard after effects settings?

    @van huzendt
    thanks!
    in my view a grungy font wouldn’t fit into the animation but i try to find a better font than arial 😉

    in the last step i want to animate flashing letters and words like “time” in the background but at the moment i don’t know how.
    can i use an expression for that?if not i will try to animate them manually…
    i’ve tried to find a striking example but i haven’t found a movie-trailer which uses this effect….

    thanks for all the tips!
    i’ve copied the background and tried around with the blending modes…and it looks great i think.
    after that i tried to improve my text-layer….i know the wiggle is a little bit strong but now it doesn’t look static any more….at the end of the animation i’ve copied the text-now a second text-layer scales up and turns the screen into white…
    i think it’s an improvement but it isn’t perfect.
    here’s what i’ve got: home.arcor.de/becker.fam/trailer.avi

    what do you think about it?
    i’ve also uploaded a version without the text-so if anybody has an idea and want to play around i would be very thankful.
    i know the basics but now i am at the point where need these small details to make my projects look better….
    thanks alot

    thanks for all your answers!
    when i watched the show all i thought was “wow”
    i don`t want to copy that look-everything i wanted to know was how the technique behind these strokes work.
    shows like “field of view” inspires me for my own projects!
    thanks for all your help!

    i like the vignette.
    in my opinion it underlines the dream-effect of the show but maybe they should just use it in flashbacks.
    is there any plugin or technique on how i can create these strokes?i’ve played around with the blending-modes and got some good results but it looked totally different from the show.

    @yikesmikes
    what did you do to get such smooth reflection inside the barrel?
    i’ve got the problem that at the place where the end of the image come up..there’s a hard contrast…

    i used the same colors as you wrote but my barrel looks totally different…did you use other blending modes or what is wrong?

    the only 3d application we can use is cinema 4d…but I really don’t know how to start this project in an 3d app…i know with after effects i can’t do it very well but perhaps there are some tipps how i can add the money notes into the scene a little bit more realistic….is it possible to add 3d depth by duplicating the money layer a few times and changing it’s z-position?
    thanks

    maybe this will help you…

    i think fractal noise will be the best choice for this effect…just animate the evolution-setting

    i know this is a bad example and i didn’t use the white balance…but i chose it to schow you what i mean…and i just wanted to know if this is possible or not…i’ve already thought about a plugin which changes the white of the second video into a the white of the first video…(and the other colors) but i don’t know what plugin i should take…
    thx
