Yea, all my stuff has the latest firmware and software revisions as of this morning, Video hub, HD link, and Decklink HD, all have the latest drivers and updates. I get the same result on all 3 Multibridges, with or without sync, on Beta SP or a DSR-45.

I’m running into the same thing with 3 of them, connect to a Workgroup Video Hub, It’s like every time you switch inputs or outputs on the WVH the multibridges go crazy and you get the flashing “No video input” screen like once every 3 sec. The only thing I’ve found so far is to set your inputs and outputs then unplug the multibridge and plug it back in but, that’s not really a viable workaround as three different users would be doing this constantly.
I’m using a clean install of OS X4.1 FCP 5.0, and Decklink HD Pro with the new drivers. Anyone have any idea as to what is going on?

I haven’t ran into this one before, It looks like a windows only thing though. If your looking for an iSCSI setup check out Studio Network Solutions (https://www.studionetworksolutions.com/content/products/isanmp/default.asp) It’s cross platform too, if your into that kinda thing.

June 1, 2005 at 11:50 pm in reply to: ISCSI Vs Fibre Channel SAN

Hey Richard to answer your questions,

[Richard Milner] “What would the sustained throughput be per Gigbit Ethernet channel? 45Megabytes a second? — with audiodoes that come down to about 10 or 12 streams at one time?Or 20 to 24 streams?”

I’ve seen 55-65 MB/s depending on what kind of Ethernet NIC your using. How many audio tracks would depend on what format your working with (i.e. MP3, WAV, 24 bit, 16 bit?) just compare the data rate of that format to 60MB/s.

[Richard Milner] “What is the throughput for a 15 drive SAN or 7200 SATA drives (using RAid 3?)?

With Fiber Channel controllers you can get close to 400MB/s depending on how it’s made and setup.

I guess you could look at it like this- a Fiber Channel SAN is like the top dog with lots of speed (with 2GB you can get close to 200MB/s per connection) , iSCSI is like the small dog with limited speed (with GigE it’s just over 1/4th of the speed of Fiber channel).

Both are used to share media in a SAN enviorment where bandwidth is needed more than anything.
A typical NAS system over ethernet does the job but with very low bandwidth.

May 25, 2005 at 9:30 pm in reply to: My capture presets have developed a problem

Have you tried trashing your preferences and setting up again?

Delete the Final Cut Pro 4 Preferences files located at ~/Library/Preferences/Final Cut Pro User Data/
Note: The tilde “~” refers to your home folder.

also delete the file POA Cache in the same directory.

after deleting these files, open FCP and it will ask you to set your audio video settings/easy setup upon startup.

    hope this helps,

May 25, 2005 at 9:11 pm in reply to: Re: Kona 2 mixed resolutions!

if your machine is fast enough you can Mix DV, uncompressed 8bit and 10bit on the same timeline and get a real time preiview (of course you’ll have to render when you edit to tape. All you gotta do is set your RT to Unlimited and the priview to dynamic).

if you mix HD formats you’ll run into some problems.

May 20, 2005 at 3:34 pm in reply to: IO and Tiger

Watch out for missing Deck control and funky capture problems with the IO and FCP 5 on Tiger 4.1, new drivers should be on the way next week to fix things up.
    Just a heads up…

May 6, 2005 at 11:49 pm in reply to: Firewire Boot?

Yes, you can install the OS on a firewire drive, after that goto system preferences under startup disk and select it and click on restart, same thing to go back. or you can hold down the option key when you boot up your computer to scan all busses for OS’s to boot from.
