  • Trying to make Multibridge work

Posted by Joao Velho on June 2, 2005 at 10:44 pm

I have just installed a Multibridge unit that’s supposed to be OK. I made all the connections and used the Multibridge Utility to configure the Mutibridge. I guess I didn’t anything wrong but it is not working. The most that I get, sometimes, is a video input but not stable, flashing black frames from time to time. Any ideias about how to configure that thing? There’s no manual or documentation for the Multribidge Utility software.

    Thanks for any help!

It’s a simple self-explainatory device. No need for a manual. Make sure you isolate the multibridge. Did you connect your video output directly to a monitor?

I don’t know exactly how, but I made it work. After some restarts and logouts the output started working, and after a shutdown the input worked. Then I found how to set the sync and to set the audio settings of Multibridge Utility, and

    Hi Joao,

I’m glad you got it working although I’m not sure what was going wrong originally.

If you’re using a USB2 port on your G5, make sure that you have a high-quality USB2 cable when configuring the Multibridge, HDLink or Videohub. Good USB cables have better shielding and often have a “Hi-Speed USB” logo attached to them.

You mentioned having to perform multiple logouts and restarts and this seems to indicate a problem with your computer. As we have not received similar reports from elsewhere, it could be that you have performed a Mac OS X upgrade which has not gone smoothly. If you had previously installed Multibridge before upgrading Mac OS X, then it might be a good idea to reinstall the Multibridge Utility. Otherwise it would be nice to test this from another computer or with a fresh install of Mac OS X, perhaps on another hard disk.

Please let us know if you continue to experience any problems.

Today morning I turned on my system and MB was not working anymore. No AV input or output. I connected the USB cable, checked the configuration that I set yesterday and did a shut down and then turned the computer on. After that, the MB started working again. After that, I turned the computer off and on several times, and there was no more problems with MB. The only other thing that I noticed in the overall performance of the system is that the F11 option of Expos

I’m running into the same thing with 3 of them, connect to a Workgroup Video Hub, It’s like every time you switch inputs or outputs on the WVH the multibridges go crazy and you get the flashing “No video input” screen like once every 3 sec. The only thing I’ve found so far is to set your inputs and outputs then unplug the multibridge and plug it back in but, that’s not really a viable workaround as three different users would be doing this constantly.
I’m using a clean install of OS X4.1 FCP 5.0, and Decklink HD Pro with the new drivers. Anyone have any idea as to what is going on?

Yep, the symptom was the same here all the times I didn’t got the in/out from the MB: “the flashing “No video input” screen like once every 3 sec on both monitors of Log and Capture window and Deck Control.

Yea, all my stuff has the latest firmware and software revisions as of this morning, Video hub, HD link, and Decklink HD, all have the latest drivers and updates. I get the same result on all 3 Multibridges, with or without sync, on Beta SP or a DSR-45.
