This happens to me on occassion, and as far as I can tell, this is Avid’s way of saying DROPPED FRAMES. Just make sure things are rendered….it happens to me over realtime effects mostly.

DON’T! That is your Project file. If you ever need to re-visit that project again you need that. Lose it and all is lost. Move it to a Project Archive folder that you make to save all your old project files.

I believe that the latest version of Compressor can do this.
As can the Standards Converter at http://www.nattress.com

And it happens in the AVID TOO! If a bin was digitized in another project, then brought into the one I am working in, well, OK, it will show the master clip, but the bin, it will say it isn’t there when it is.
FCPs media manager (the part of the application responsible for what you are asking about) needs MAJOR work. While Avid was built around the Media tool and organizing media databases, FCP was not…

Straight cuts..and maybe a few dissolves? What is the final destination of your project? Tape or film or DVD or…
The best thing to do is export and EDL of the 30 frame project, then use Cinema Tools to convert it to a 23.98 or 24 frame project, then import that back into FCP

The best solution would be to work with all these formats at the same resolution.
Get a capture card to capture everything (and the hard drives capable of playing uncompressed 8-bit…FW800 drives are good for this, as well as external SATA Arrays). Offline use Offline RT, when you online, online 8-bit uncompressed.
Get all your PAL tapes transferred to NTSC tapes before you capture them. Or, if you lack the funds, get the STANDARDS converter, capture all the PAL tapes, convert them to NTSC, output them to new tapes then use those new NTSC tapes as masters. Mind you, this is a TIME CONSUMING venture…be the least expensive option.

Yeah…the Meridian 9000 ain’t gonna recognize the firewire connection. Avid Express yes…Adrenaline, maybe (dunno, Meridian is as high as I go).
I don’t think you are gonna get the 24P footage into the Avid unless you dub to beta. And remember…24P footage is best worked with at 29.97. it is 24PA that really wants the 23.98 fps.
The Meridian only does 30 non-drop and 29.97 drop frame timecode editing, or straight up film 24fps. No 23.98.

AH! DVCAM. Then just capture them normal…DV/NTSC. But work in an HDV timeline. Unfortunately this means that anytime you add a DVCAM shot to the HDV timeline, you will have to render it.
Unless other people know about a converter. I know that you can downconvert HDV to DV thru the camera, but not the other way around.

You can try that. I haven’t so I can’t say it will work.
What sort of inputs does the camera have? There might be a loss of quality if you have to go over a composite or even S-Video wire.
You might have the 5 HDCAM tapes dubbed to HDV at a dub house…
