    Hi

I’m editing a projcet in FCP4.5 HD. All the origional source is in 24 HD or animation. The source was digitized from DV downconverts. However since before I came on to the project it has all been edited on a 30 frame time line. I will need to do the on line in 24 with FCP.

I know had I used cinema tools from the start, I could have just treated it like as film project but that is all behind us now.

    I need a work flow.

Straight cuts..and maybe a few dissolves? What is the final destination of your project? Tape or film or DVD or…

The best thing to do is export and EDL of the 30 frame project, then use Cinema Tools to convert it to a 23.98 or 24 frame project, then import that back into FCP

The project is going 24p HD then out to film.

I will do an experiment using your suggestion.

    Thanks.

We’re doing a similar project now. Cinema Tools will generate a 24fps edl from a 30fps. It’s accurate – but keep in mind that since you may have cut on 3:2 jitter frames, those won’t reflect in 24fps land. So media may be 1 frame off in HD land.

Thanks so much. I feel better now.
