No, it does not convert it to AIC…it converts it to Uncompressed SD

Neither. Just drop it into a 10-bit sequence and render. THEN add graphics and text.
In the future, it would be wise to capture the footage thru a capture card in the first place, as the AIC (Apple Intermediate Codec) compresses your already highly compressed HDV footage even more.

Nope, no way to tell this. Compression, frame rate, length of project all factor into the file size. Unless you’re really good at math and do a little trial and error to know how big a file is if it is 10 min long with a certain compression, and if it is an hour. But there are too many factors really.

Not really. It meant for people who want to capture footage from their camera and put onto the web or a DVD.
If you want to capture footage for FCP…use FCP.

FCP works with the 720P30 format from that camera, but not the 720p24.

Apparently footage captured via QT7 can’t be imported into FCP. I have heard of many people that tried, and weren’t able to get it to do so.

Have you tried it? Just use the DVCPRO HD 23.98 easy setup and capture…see what happens. It should remove the pulldown on the fly, if the footage has been properly flagged at 24P.

LInk them. Highlight the video and audio tracks and hit APPLE-L.
Then trim.
