  • How to trim all tracks of a clip at once?

Posted by Lisa Virtue on January 20, 2006 at 7:58 pm

    Hiya,

I’ve come back from editing on Media 100 and can’t seem to edit all the tracks of a clip at the same time on the timeline.
So, if I have a clip with 1 video and 2 audio tracks, I have to make the edit 3 times (1 for each track) if I do it on the timeline.
The names of my clips are underlined, which should indicated that its tracks are linked.

Does anyone know of a setting or something that will allow me to edit all tracks of a clip at the same time? (You know, if I drag the edge of the video track, the audio goes along with it.)

Thanks for any help you can provide.

LInk them. Highlight the video and audio tracks and hit APPLE-L.

    Then trim.

You can either hit Shift+L, or in the top right of the timeline there are 2 buttons. The one on the left turns on linked selection. Make sure it is green.

if the clips names are still under-lined, you need to turn on “linked selection” (shift +L) this will let you adjust all the linked audio/video tracks together.

there is a button for this in the upper right hand corner of the timeline. it looks like an “8” at 45 degrees in side of dotted line box.

A sidebar for a related subject but an answer to your direct question, is Extend Edit. With Extend Edit (shortcut E) you can trim all the tracks in your sequence timeline that you have selected.

Ahhh, Thank you all. I knew Command L but not Shift L or all the other great tidbits you gave me. I knew it would end up being something simple. Simple once you know it, that is. 😀

    cheers,
    Lisa
