Well I learn something new about Final Cut every day!
That button to the right of the start/end percentages is exactly what I was looking for.
When I said I “reversed the iris”, I should’ve been more descriptive. What I did was simply switch the 100% and 0%.
All I needed to do to get the desired effect was to hit that button.
Thanks a million for all those tips guys!

Thanks for the tips guys,
It’s still not quite what I’m looking for though.
The standard Oval Iris is perfect for the beginning of the clip. It Starts with a black frame and “opens” the screen from a circle in the middle of the frame.
At the end is where the problem is. When I reverse the Iris, it starts with a black frame and ends with video. Same as the beginning of the clip only backwards. I’m looking to start with video in the frame, and have the iris circle close in from the edges of the screen and end with a black frame.
Thanks again everyone!

I’m just using the Export Quicktime Movie option and unchecking the make movie self contianed box.
It’s always worked before but now suddenly has problems…
-
Ok I just tried that. Deleted all video and audio files associated with this timeline, rerendered and re exported. Same problem in the same place!
Then I tried to export the movie using compressor, with video compressor set to “none”. It took a long time but it exported correctly!
Any ideas? Why do weird problems always happen to me?

Thank you everyone for you helpful suggestions.
What I ended up doing to get through this was to just simply go back to the FCP timeline, and removing all effect attributes since, besides the interlacing, all I had in there were some color corrections that I was able to re-do without too much trouble.
Then I started the process again from there, exporting in a QT ref file and running it through, Flix Pro (which is amazing, by the way, thanks for the recomendation David!) and then uploading it to brightcove.com.
This was my first attempt at a video home tour for a paying client and it could not have been done without help from this forum.
If you want to get a laugh, check out my first version on the video (when I was still exporting through 2 pass sorenson 3 then compressing through Flash 8 Encoder) to the final version.
(both are pretty crappy in my own opinion, but not too shabby for my first attempt!)

(The first attempt is on the left and the final copy is on the right. You can play them side by side to see the difference)Thanks again everyone.

Thanks again guys. I’m going to go with one of the Flix’s.
The creative cow community saves me yet again!

Actually, one more question…..
At what point in that process can I deinterlace it? Flash 8 Encoder doesn’t seem to have a deinterlace option…

Thank you so much guys. I’m going to try the reference file way first. I hate to buy a plugin if I already have the compressor on my computer. This method should definitely help.

That’s exactly what it was!
I upgraded to 5.1 today and all the problems are fixed. Thanks for the advice!

I actually can’t even do that because the computer doesn’t recognize it as even hooked up. It doesn’t show up anywhere.
