    Hey everyone,

I just recieved my brand new quad core Intel Mac Pro. I installed my copy of Final Cut Pro 5.0, plugged in my Sony HDV camcorder with firewire and tried to capture.

Here’s a little problem… Nothing shows up in the capture preview window. I can control the camera’s functions from the computer but the video only shows up on the camcorder. So I went to try to set the AUDIO/VIDEO settings and saw the PLAYBACK OUTPUT pulldown.

    Here’s where it gets weird…

The only options that show up as selectable are NONE and DIGITAL CINEMA DESKTOP PREVIEW.

I’m using a single monitor setup. Does anyone know why those other options aren’t available? Is that the problem? Thanks a million in advance for any clues.

I believe you need FCP 5.1.
    5.0 isn’t for Mac-Intel.
    You’ll need the FCP Crossgrade.

    That’s exactly what it was!

I upgraded to 5.1 today and all the problems are fixed. Thanks for the advice!
