I converted the raw photos to tiff files with Photoshop Elements. I was able to import but still to large for PP to handle. I have to reduce size for editing and grading.

Thanks Peter, that was helpful. I wonder if there is a way to the mapping in the preferences so that you don’t have to do this to individual clips.

Is QuickTime 7 the best way to transcode to Prores for PP CC?

  • Instead of starting a new post, I’ll continue here. I’m new to PP CC. I use an iMac with 8GB RAM and a AMD Radeon HD 6970M 1024 MB. I edit H.264 video with very little problems, sometimes clips hang when opening on source window but the AVCHD clips struggle a lot, and transcoding takes a long time. Any recommendations on the Graphics Card and RAM?

Thanks Bill. As you might have guessed, I’m new to FCPX. So, if I end up with 15 video clips and 2 files of audio from the external recorder, do I just highlight all the clips select Syncrpnize Clips and FCPX will create ond clip wit the synced track?

  • How important is the speed of the video card? I’ve heard that it’s not important and others say that you need at least 1GB.
