I have an iMac with 8GB RAM and a AMD Radeon HD 6970M 1024 MB. I edit H.264 video with very little problems, sometimes clips hang when opening on source window but the AVCHD clips struggle a lot, and transcoding takes a long time. Any recommendations on the Graphics Card and RAM?
    How can I improve performance?

AVCHD is a terrible, piece of crap- codec that doesn’t run properly on anything. I would transcode it to a better format eg. Prores, DNxHD.

Is QuickTime 7 the best way to transcode to Prores for PP CC?

    I’d use Prelude.
