Hi Chris,
I would advise you to create your 3D grid in Invigorator to keep everything in a single 3D world.
Creating a 3D plane at the same aspect ratio then your grid comp and using the layer mapping technique to texture your plane would do the trick.
You could send me your animated project (serge at nyc-visual dot com)
I will be glad to troubleshoot it for you 😉Salut.

Hi Tom,
This can’t be done with PA. AFAIK only Invigorator can benefit from the AE expressions.
Salut.

Dear Aharon,
You have been a great help to all of us here at the forum as well as to those who produced the Master Series. (Aharon helped me publish mine by testing more then 160 projects! In a record time)
I hope to have the opportunity to work with you one day;-)
Haleh and I wish you all the very best and hope to see you soon.
Love.

Hi,
Do you have an image layer included in your file?
You can send me your artwork at (serge at nyc-visual dot com)

Hi Brad,
Unless you are not showing the entire globe, I will not advise you to use a second sphere for the clouds as it will look fake and abnormal. Have a look at the example you provided or any earth picture and you will see that the clouds are never surrounding the earth outside of the atmosphere.
If you still want to do so, follow these steps:
– Duplicate the earth comp in your project window.
– Delete the earth image and add a black solid layer under the clouds layer.
– Place this new comp in the main one and assign it as a layer map.
– In the Set-Up window create a second sphere make it bigger then the first one and apply Map #2 as a texture map as well as a Transparency Map. Done!
Salut.

Hi Brad,
Actually you don’t need two spheres for that. You could simply animate your clouds on top of your Earth Map and use the layer mapping technique to texture your sphere. I am testing some hardware software for new tutorials so I created this petit tutorial for you:

The result should look like this:

September 15, 2008 at 6:51 pm in reply to: Exporting Paths from Illustrator for InvigoratorHi Dave,
Nothing easier then this. Just create a circle in IL with a fill.
In case you are using IL CS3 make sure you save to CS2 or earlier version and uncheck the “Use Compression” in the Option dialog window.
In Invigorator just apply the edge of your choice and alter the depth of your object in the Set-Up window.
Now to make it look good you need to apply a bump map to the edge of your puck.
I did an example for you here:

[Kevin Kefgen] “The answer to the below is to start with a ten pixel circle from Illustrator. Then add the edge, then rotate the object 90 degrees.”
Or you rotate your custom edge path upside down in Illustrator;-)
Could you send me a pic of the bottle? (serge at nyc-visual dot com)This will help me help you create the texture and reflection map.
Salut.

Hi Kevin,
I can’t see your transparency map but you shouldn’t be using one anyway.
You should check my Custom edges tutorial. (Click on my head to get there)
The tutorial will help you create a perfect 3D bottle. If you are using version 4.5 make sure you save your custom edge in the following folder:
PC:C:Documents and SettingsADMIN My Documents Zaxwerks 3D InvigoratorPRO Custom Edges
Mac: Documents>Zaxwerks>3D Invigorator Pro>Custom Edges
As to the mapping just let us know when you modeled your bottle if you still need some help. Or (Shameless plug)get yourself the Invigorator/ProAnimator training DVD as it will teach you this and way more things in no time;-)
Salut.

Hi,
Invigorator assigns all objects to Set1 by default.
If you want to assign an object to a different set, you need first to select the object in the Set-Up window then choose another set in the Set menu. It’s as simple as this;-)
Salut.
