    Walter,
Yeap, its a long long time till April. At work, we use Betacam, so being able to accuately do insert edits is pretty important. I had almost forgot that a NLE should be able to do this “no problem” and that the standard method of doing inserts was not finding nice long disolves to go in and out on. At home, I’m DV / DVCAM / (tapeless). Its my understanding that one can not do insert edits on DV decks, is this really true? What about HDV?

After being so excited about STP, I’m bummed to read the Posts (above) problems with back and forth work flow issues. Maybe all those STP tools and loops should just be in FCP. I’m a big fan of one stop shopping, call me lazy. Just some last night thoughts…

I’m in the middle of some projects both here and at work so I guess I’ll wait for a lull in the storm to go FCP5. How does having both FCPHD and FCP5 on the same machine work? I know you have to rename FCPHD so that FCP5 does not replace it. But are there any other issues I should be aware of?
    Thanks, Chris

I use a Pyro AV link, it works very well, even has Component Outs! Only 175.00 The stuff I capture from SVHS(DVD) looks amazing for a little old prosumer device.

Are you having good luck with the rest of FCP5? I am going back and forth over wanting to install it or not.

Humm… good to know. That problem is not mentioned on the STP forum. Thanks, Chris

Nice read and great info. Can you post the details(or link) of what you had to do to get this working? And you mentioned there are problems with STP. What would these be exactly, I just loaded it yesterday and am getting started. I can’t believe Mackie would drop the ball on this one.
    Thanks, Chris

    Thanks Walter,
I think I’m going to wait it off till FCP6 (If it ain’t broke..) and have some fun learning STP. Do you know if the new Live type Media 1 and 2 disks work with the old Live Type Application? And can you just install the new Live Type App?
    Thanks, Chris

Q: But can you cut a New Reality Show on the new photo IPOD?
A: Yes and its better cause you don’t have to watch it either!
