Well my Canvus window is rectangle as it should be. And If I drag the handels on the footage I can resize it to fit the window and it looks ok, I guess.

This is what I have selected for capture and sequence.
Frame size 720×480 Aspected (NTSC DV (3:2) and then I have the Anamorphic 16X9 box checked.

What do you think?

Oh!! I just looked in the XL1 eye piece that I am using to capture.. And it says in the lower right conner “16bit 16:9” Humm I guess that pretty definitive huh? But still why are those black bars there in the Canvus window?

Yeap my sequence is 16×9 and I am capturing at 16×9.. And I am using firewire. Its all working just fine. BUT I am concerned that the footage does not fill the Canvus window that looks like it is 16×9. It adds black bars at the top and the bottom. If the footage is really 16×9 should it not fill the entire 16×9 Canvus window? ( I’m looking at the Canvus at 25%)

I have a HD wide screen.. Should I look at the footage through SVHS to that to tell…
Sorry, my brain’s not working to well today and this is the first time I’ve used 16×9 footage.

But OT again, have you written any more articals about DV 24p and 24pa work flow? I read the one on Ken Stones site, but I am having difficulty understanding if I need to do something else to Cannon 24p footage after it has been captured and cut at 29.97. Do I need to take it back into Cinema Tools and convert it to 24p to make a nice DVD for the festivals? This is only my 2nd 24p job, the first was in 24pa. That one seemed pretty straight forward, print to tape and FCP adds the pulldown on the fly right? I’m in LA and go to LAFCPUGs, could you recommend any other sites to get fully educated on this process.

Do you mean 24p or 24pa? And does “video” include output to DVD? And how does it screw up audio in post? This really concerns me.

And you seem to be contradicting Grammes assertion that;

I guess everything is fine then and no one was lazy, except me. I should have kept reading that Nattress artical over and over till it made sence. But its all starting to now. Not exactly rocket science… But one more question…

As far as capturing 24p at 29.97. What does that mean to me as an online editor? Should I go back and recapture everyting? Will the audio drift, will the edits change by a few frames? Will I have to recut everything starting on “Aframes” in a 24p project ? Will the sky start to fall and the earth open up? Oh my gosh.. I’m scared, very scared. These people did a great job and the footage looks fantastic and its even a good story too, I really want to give them what they had in mind. And I really want to do this right.. I have time.
