Your research led you to the correct conclusion. You don’t need to worry about it. Just make sure the program starts at 01:00:00:00. And deliver non-drop frame TC if possible. The authoring house’s encoding system will likely remove the pulldown and create a 24p DVD. This is normal. Every authoring house I’ve dealt with wants delivery on Digibeta, even though they end up making a 24p DVD.

Do not get the Macbook or the Mac Mini. They use a cheapo graphics chip that will make everything slower and you can’t even use Motion or Color.
The 24″ high-end iMac is fine. The Macbook Pro is probably better because the cardbus slot gives you more external storage options.

It’s just ProRes you can’t capture in HD. ProRes HD requires a fast CPU to encode it.
You can capture DVCProHD on your G5. You don’t need a RAID for DVCProHD.
You can also capture Uncompressed 8-bit or 10-bit on your G5, but for that you do need a RAID.

With HD, like what he asked, that is correct. But SD ProRes can be captured just fine using a G5.

There’s a button on the logic board, I forget what it’s called. You just push it and that should fix your problem.

The image should be .ISO format. That will work with any PC software. Do not send a .DMG file.

Compressing it won’t do anything. I guess you could split it up but good luck explaining to the client how to recombine it. You should just take it somewhere that has a faster upload speed.

Ok, checking MJPEG-A with 6.0.4. No RT Extreme. So all effects playback with the “Unrendered” screen until you render it. No RT scopes. Broadcast monitor does not update when scrubbing. Only with playback.

No, you don’t need to check the box. FCP already knows it’s anamorphic becuse the pixel aspect is set for 1440×1080.
Quicktime is showing you the actual frame size of 1440×1080 without stretching it. What are you exporting it for? DVD? The web?

I would ask for Photo JPEG instead, although you’re best bet regardless is to convert it all to ProRes yourself.
Yes, there are pitfalls. I can give you more info tomorrow when I’m at work. I have experience with all codecs in FCP including MJPEG. But I have not worked with it in the sense that I did a whole project with MJPEG footage in FCP 6.0.4 (nobody has, you’ll be the first). Hopefully I’m still qualified to reply to your post.
