  • Just to clarify – I have slot 4 at the top OPEN so I just connected the 2 HDMI cables to the back of my decklink card and then put the plate in that top slot which is available…it does seem a little crammed in there but as of right now non of the cables from the HDMI plate OR the GTX 285 are touching any of the fans or cards themselves.

Any thoughts or opinions on this config would be great

    So now I have:

    slot 4 – HDMI plate
    slot 3 – Decklink Extreme3D+
    Slot 2 – Nvidea GT 120
    Slot 1 – Nvidea GTX 285

  • Hey Paul thanks for the reply!

    Just to clarify

1)I guess I just dont understand this because with my decklink extreme 3D+ I dont fully understand how to set it up and where exactly a cord would come out from the back of macpro – couldn’t I just leave the plate off for the PCIe slot that is still open and not used and thread it out that way?

    2) I have the 8TB RAID0 software setup but what I am asking is if I still need or should have a RAID card as well or is that only if its an external RAID system?! sorry if this seems stupid

3)SO my system is being slowed down by have 32GB ? which means i would have to add 3 more 8gb sticks for a total of 48GB of RAM?

    Mucho Thanks

  • Hey Kevin,

I apologize but I dont really understand what / how you mean. I did save the plate but i dont get what you did and what i will need to buy and do to make this happenn and avoid purchasing the sdi to hdmi BMD converter box.

Any help, pictures or discussion would be great!

    thank you

  • Hi Kevin
    thank you for the response!

So how did that work out for you? Any specifics on where to buy all needed cables etc? Also do you have made any more adjustments or whatever to the setup to make it look better or function better?

In terms of the BMD converter box – I am going to look for used ones on ebay and amazon or maybe just go to b&h and buy the converter box new if your route seems over my head. I dont have a problem leaving something open if it means saving $500 but i do not want to drill any holes or do anything to void my warranty or make it harder to re-sell when its time to buy a lightpeak macpro!

Any help or advice would be great
    thanks

I agree! I bought my 12-core in November and now feel stupid…I ask apple to buy mine back for a thunderbolt version?! wouldn’t that be rad, I mean damn talk about bad timing to make a major purchase! I did raid 0, 32gb ram, ssd, etc from OWC I wonder how it would sell used on ebay or amazon.

hey sascha thank you for the response.

can you expand on what you mean by ‘experiment’ in terms of using redcine or storm for sizing?

“I would keep the Epic media nativ in a mixed project , it just feels good to have it ready.” can you explain?

Why use Storm for cutting and stuff? did you mean before bringing into fcp for the actual editing process w/ clients in a room?

    thanks
