Great info here thank you so much!

Maybe they could try to buy NeatVideo or develop the NR tool further to match the level of reults? Anyone use Revival before – whats that like in comparison? Also add some grain tools like in Color’s FX room 🙂 missing that ability a lot right now.

Having to go to AE to do both things is just another big step i would like to remove…I suppose tools like Nucoda, Baselight, Lustre, etc all have these built in and working well as part of there finishing toolkit?

Not hating on BMD just really hoping for these features to get added asap and working in that I have made the investment in hardware & software for Davinci already 🙂

Just came across this thread as I have some questions about Neat Video. I was going to use Davinci Resolve’s NR tool but my project has actually been graded in Color and others had advised me that the Resolve 8 noise reduction tools were not as good as Neat Video.

FCP vs. AE are render times or anything else better in AE version vs. FCP? Is there more control in AE like using a mask or whatever else to limit where the neat video filter is effecting noise?

    any help would be great
    thanks!

Maybe i will post this AE question in that forum? – i know Magiv Bullet makes a tool for noise reduction too but i imagine both can be limited to certain areas just like in Resolve by using masks or whatever else AE offers in conjunction with plugins??

Still hoping for some solid feedback about Resolve and / or Neat Video FCP vs. AE

    cheers

Hoping for some more feedback from davinci users about there experience / workflow with this type of NR job.

If i do get the Neat plugin which is better / faster – fcp or AE on Mac? I have a 12 core and 32 gb ram so was just curious if render times will be better or whatever else might be worth noting when purchasing.

    thanks in advance

Where did you pick that up? I looked on ebay and only saw a couple used ones that I was not so sure about…i currently have the 285/120 but if its such a performance boost maybe I should consider swapping it out for a 470!

    ok great thank you!

Let me just ask you this. If its assume that rec.709 is the format I will be grading in (on a flanders:) using apple color, what are the proper settings I should use and how best can I set this up in Color for grading?

maybe i should also make a proper post in the color format about Log & Lut’s – its my first ever so I want to make sure to handle this properly so as to be able to grade the quicktimes as best as possible.

    thank you

I have just been passed my first log footage job – all 1080 23.98 prores files that are totally looking Log – this is the first time I have had to deal with footage of this nature.

I am actually using color for this job because it’s all te studio has but I am really not sure how to deal with creating the high contrast / saturated look they sent me for reference. Should I be using a lut of some kind – I believe it was shot on the Arri.

Delivery is for tv, web & in-instore (DVD)

  • Ok great thank you Peter.

Since they already have the 120 i think getting a 285 makes sense.

    cheers
