We are talking playback here in an NLE that isn’t really breaking new ground. Traditional track-based system that can copy a whole lot of systems before it. And playback is “getting darn close”? In my humble opinion, that should be pretty high up on the list of things it needs to do from the get-go. Hey Resolve team (both of you): put playback higher on your list.
|sarcasm filter off|The patience folks have with Resolve just getting to a point where it can playback material amazes me. Maybe it’s just the wish for FCP8. It’s a great color correction tool and perhaps that’s what it’s just meant to be.

What I find interesting is that people are so willing to be patient with Resolve. I mean, for 2 or 3 versions it pretty much has sucked as an editor (disclosure: I have not tried 12 but early reports are not encouraging), but the comments are “well it’s getting there..”. Seriously, there are plenty of products that are already “there”. Why wait?
Just an observation. Let the flaming begin….

I get the feeling BMD is spreading itself thin. Why make an NLE? That’s like becoming another craft brewery. Too many already.

General question:
Are there plug-ins that can get color correction in close to Resolve? I would rather eliminate the roundtrip altogether and stay in X.

Does it actually play back material without dropping frames? R11 was such a dud that I have stopped looking at Resolve as an edit solution, only a color corrector when absolutely needed.
