I haven’t tried this yet, but amongst the the new features in Resolve 12, I came across this ‘export to ProTools’. So could one export an FCP X timeline to Resolve 12 and export to ProTools? For free, compared to the $$ XtoPro?

That function, as well as Avid AAF roundtrip, do not appear to be enabled yet in the beta. Audio track-types in Resolve 12 are very funky. A lot like how they are handled in Premiere but with less configurability.

I would go the X2Pro route. Believe me, the audio folks would appreciate it as it preserves much needed metadata! They’ve made a bunch of improvements to X2Pro and I’ve been able to handle their AAFs with ease.
